Majorca Airport (PMI)

The Airport Palma de Mallorca, also known as International airport of Son Sant Joan is located at 8 km from the city center of Majorca, Palma de Mallorca, strategically situated between the turist areas Bay of Palma (S'Arenal) and the city. It is situated on the site of a former military base that still exists. The Majorca airport was opened in 1960, when the great tourist boom in the Balearic Islands emerged, to replace the old Airport Son Bonet (which is still running).

It is the third largest airport in Spain by passenger volume, exceeded only by the Madrid-Barajas Airport and Barcelona Airport, and it is highly crowded in the summer months. It receives a large number of charter flights from Europe, especially from Germany and the United Kingdom.
